What is your best investment to date? (doesn't have to be finance-related)
I would say it was buying 40 acres in California City my senior year in college for $20,000. I wanted to buy a piece of property in my home town but I didn’t have enough for that so the realtor suggested the 40 acres which was in the middle of nowhere! I paid $1500 down and $161.50 per month for 15 years. California City had about 500 people in it when I bought the land. All my friends laughed at me but I figured it was an investment I could keep for retirement. 22 years later the state of California bought 12 of the acres to build a freeway interchange and gave me over $300,000 for it! I still have 28 acres left! I don’t suggest buying and holding for 20 years but it worked for me!
